- The Fifth and Final Workshop on Research for Social Action for Community Health Fellowship, Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (13th – 15th December, 2010): The Fellows made their final presentations on their research work and there were four lectures organized on diverse topics related to public health. The Fellows also participated in role plays that highlighted issues of accessibility in vulnerable populations. The Fellows shared their experiences and learnings at the end of the workshop. - Fourth Workshop on Research for Social Action for Community Health Fellowship, Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (July 27th to July 30th, 2010): The main agenda of the workshop was to evaluate, guide and support the data collection process and data collected by Community Health Fellows (CHF) for their respective action research studies. The agenda also included continuation in capacity building of the fellows in action research and in this workshop there were sessions on research methodology with a special focus on the component of data analysis. - Third Workshop on Research for Social Action for Community Health Fellowship, Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (January 28th to January 30th, 2010): The workshop was organised
to evaluate the research tools and research design proposed for action research studies by Community Health Fellows. - The PGDDHM (Post Graduate Diploma in District Health Management) is a joint endeavor of PHRN and IGNOU in the direction of realizing National Rural Health Mission’s vision of creating adequate public health cadres at all levels. It aims to support Public Health Practitioners working in the districts in all aspects of Public Health Systems. This distance learning programme compliments regular training programmes and thus contributes to meeting this immense training need. The programme has been launched from July 2009 in the PHRN states of Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkand, Orissa, as well as Delhi, Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Kolkata, Tamil Nadu, Madhya Pradesh and Manipur. - Research for Social Action for Community Health Fellowship, Centre for Jawaharlal Nehru Studies, Jamia Millia Islamia (April 17th to April 22nd, 2009): The workshop was organised to introduce basic concepts in research to Community Health Fellows with an idea to provide continued support and guidance as opposed to a one time training. Each fellow has been assigned with a mentor in accordance with the topic selected for ‘Action Research’. - Induction of Community Health Fellows: Induction programme for the Community Health Fellows was held on the campus of SEARCH, Gadchiroli from 15th to 21st January, 2009. It was jointly organized by Public Health Resource Network (PHRN) and Society for Education, Action and Research in Community Health (SEARCH), National Health System Resource Centre (NHSRC) and ICICI Centre for Child Health and Nutrition (ICCHN).
The Community Health Fellowship programme aims at introducing the fellows to Public Health concepts with a focus on improving community processes, community health capacity building and strengthening of the public health system, providing a space where activists in Public Health and other social movements would come and share their experiences with the fellows and discuss in detail individual and group action research that the fellows would undertake in their respective states to address various community health issues.
